Whether you’re looking to fill a few hours at the weekend or make a major contribution to a local community group, discover the opportunities available This section allows you to finds out information about volunteering in Wyre and also lots of other interesting information. The Wyre Together task group have recently completed a comprehensive evaluation of the Wyre Volunteer Bureau and presented this to Wyre Council. We are also developing a 'Best Practices Guide' using information gathered from existing volunteers and organisations to help all local groups (available to download below) and we are also developing a Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde standard Volunteering Quality Mark which will be available for all groups to use.
Wyre Together have also developed a Volunteering Leaflet highlighting the sort of opportunities that are available and how to get involved. This leaflet is available to download below:-
The task group is currently working on developing a Wyre Volunteering Strategy that can be used by both individuals and groups and will share information about best practices, aims, objectives and actions. The document will be issued as widely as possible when it has been signed off by the task group.
Age UK Blackpool and District are looking for volunteers to support clients Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre (especially in the Freckleton/Warton area of the Fylde coast) to help with our Assisted Shopping Service. The role would involve supporting clients to do their shopping – this could be linking arms with the client, pushing a wheelchair, helping them with items in their trolley or just providing company during their shop etc. Due to the nature of this role it is necessary to have a car available and a CRB check will be undertaken.
